Trust God
WHEN LIFE IS HARD
“Trust God”
1 Peter 5:6-14 (NKJV)
“Trust God and do the next thing.” ~ Oswald Chambers
We are to trust God with:
1. Cares (1 Pet. 5:6-7)
How do we trust God with our cares?
- We see ourselves as not being able to handle them properly (1 Pet. 5:6), “Therefore humble yourselves…” (Humble yourself before God and the cares)
- We see God as the mighty One with all the answers (1 Pet. 5:6), “under the mighty hand of God…”
- We see God’s desire to lift us above the cares/problems (1 Pet. 5:6), “that He may exalt you in due time.”
- We see we must totally let go of the cares and give them to Him (1 Pet. 5:7), “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
2. Enemy (1 Pet. 5:8-9)
- Aware (1 Pet. 5:8), “Be sober, be vigilant…”
- Agenda (1 Pet. 5: 8), “because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
- Appeal (1 Pet. 5: 9), “Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
3. Methods (1 Pet. 5:10-14)
1 Pet. 5:10, “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”
