Submit to Others
WHEN LIFE IS HARD
“SUBMIT TO OTHERS”
1 Peter 2:11-3: 12 (NKJV)
When life is hard, submit to others (1 Pet. 2:11-12)
1. Submit to government (1 Pet. 2:13-17)
“But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20
Why do we submit to government … Peter?
- For the Lord’s sake (1 Peter 2:13)
- Because government punishes evildoers (1 Pet. 2:14)
- As a testimony to others (1 Pet. 2:15-16)
- For honor’s sake (1 Pet. 2:17)
2. Submit to those over us (1 Pet. 2:18-25)
- Exhortation (1 Pet. 2:18-20)
- Example (1 Pet. 2:21-25)
3. Submit as “Husbands and Wives” to each other (1 Pet. 3:1-7)
How wives submit to their husbands
- words (1 Pet. 3: 1)
- actions (1 Pet. 3: 2)
- dress (1 Pet. 3:3-4)
- obedience (1 Pet. 3:5)
How husband submit to their wives
- understanding (1 Pet. 3:7)
- honor (1 Pet. 3:7)
4. Submit to other church members (1 Pet. 3:8-12)
We do this so God can bless us (individual & a church) (1 Pet. 3:8-11)
We do this because God sees and judges us (1 Pet. 3:12)
