Spiritual Pressure

Spiritual Pressure
Series: Under Pressure

Is there such a thing as “Spiritual Pressure”?

Through the years, we’ve seen the church has changed. Much of which has been for the better!

  • Music has changed
  • Stage has changed
  • Preaching has changed

Much of this is good, but it’s caused pressure on our churches.

There are 3 areas we have to watch out for that can cause “Spiritual Pressure” in our lives:

1. Feeling “Unworthy”

“When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
                              Luke 5:8

“You say, But God can never have called me to this, I am too unworthy, it can’t mean me. It does mean you, and the weaker and feeble you are, the better.”
~Oswalt Chambers

The Lord took Peter from “unworthiness” to “usefulness”

           A. Call“Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make       you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
           B. Certainty“Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16
           C. Confidence“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.”
Acts 2:14

2. Feeling “Unavailable”

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:“Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Isaiah 6:8

Being “unavailable” and being “unwilling” are two different things.

God understands:
          A. Responsibilities
          B. Recreation

3. Feeling “Unqualified”

“Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I amslow of speech and slow of tongue.”
                          Exodus 4:10

Let the feeling of being “unqualified” drive you to “determination”
