Leanness of Soul // “Never Satisfied”
LEANNESS OF SOUL
“Never Satisfied”
Psm. 106:13-15
Ps. 106:14a “But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness”
“lusted exceedingly” = an intense longing or desire that has never been fulfilled
We have leanness of soul and are never satisfied because:
1. We’ve never learned “fulfillment”. (John 17:3)
We were never designed for anything to fulfill us . . . but Christ!
We learn fulfillment in Christ thru:
- Intimacy
- Intentional (Col. 3:1-2)
- Involved
2. We’ve never learned “contentment”. (Phil. 4:11-12)
Contentment has the potential:
- to cause us to enjoy what we have, instead of a constant cycle for more
- to help us find peace and happiness in everyday life and relationships
- to slow down the cycle of living faster, consuming more and destroying environment
Contentment has to –
- be “lived” (Heb. 13:5)
- be “learned” (Phil. 4:11)
3. Because we’ve never learned “enjoyment”. (Ps. 16:11)
The greatest enjoyment of life is being along with God, in His will, and doing His work!
