• Prayer is “needful” (Mt. 26:40-41)
• Prayer is “release” (1 Pet. 5:7)
• Prayer is “powerful” (Jam. 5:16)

PRAYERS THAT ARE VITAL FOR INDIVIDUALS

1. ENGAGING PRAYERS (Lk. 18:1)

• Engage the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:26)
• Engage the Word (John 15:7)
• Engage the Need (Phil. 4:6-7)

2. ENABLING PRAYERS (Ps. 55:16-17)

What caused David to pray?

• He realized what was at stake (1 Sam. 17:26)
• He realized there was a cause (1 Sam. 17:29)
• He realized it was the Lord’s battle and not his (1 Sam. 17:47)

3. ENDURING PRAYERS (Col. 4:2)

• We have to persist “Continue earnestly in prayer”
• We have to be vigilant “being vigilant in it” (watch over it)
• We have to continually give thanks “with thanksgiving”
