Vocational Pressure
Vocational Pressure
Series: Under Pressure
Here are some of the major reasons why there is so much pressure and stress in the job market today:
- Long hours
- Heavy workload
- Constant change in the organization
- Tight deadlines
- Changes to duties
- Job insecurity
- Other personnel / workers / bosses
The New Testament writers addressed “work” and the overall theme was this: “And whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men.” Col. 3:23
From a biblical point of view, how do we deal with vocational pressure?
We have to understand:
- God’s PURPOSE for Work – “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend (lit. to work) and keep it.” – Gen 2:15
- God’s COMMAND for Work – “If anyone will not work neither shall he eat …” – 2 Thess. 3:10 (meaning those who can work, but refuse not to)
- God’s ENVIRONMENT for Work – “Bondservants be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh …” – Eph. 6:5
