SERVE GOD
WHEN LIFE IS HARD
“SERVE GOD”
1 Peter 4:7-19, 5:1- 5 (NKJV)
When life is hard…be intentional about serving God.
1. Serve God with our “Commitment” (1 Peter 4:7-9)(Mt. 10:37)
We should be committed to the Lord, but also committed to:
- Prayer (1 Peter 4:7)
- Love (1 Peter 4:8)
- Hospitality (1 Peter 4:9)
2. Serve God with our “Gifts” (1 Peter 4:10-11)
“Start where you are, do anything you can do, and do everything you can do, until you find something you must do! That something is probably your spiritual gift.”
~ Jim George, author and pastor
1). How your spiritual gift is unique to you (1 Peter 4:10) “As each one has received a gift…”
2). How to use your spiritual gift (1 Peter 4:10), “minister it to one another…”
3). How you received your spiritual gift (1 Peter 4:10), “as good stewards of the manifest grace of God.”
4). How you always make sure to give God the glory for your spiritual gift (1 Pet. 4:11)
3. Serve God with our “Endurance” (1 Pet. 4:12-19)
Serve Him thru:
- “Trials” (1 Pet. 4:12-13)
- “Reproaches” (insults) (1 Pet. 4:14-18)
- “Pain” (sufferings) (1 Pet. 4:19)
4. Serve God with our “Devotion” (1 Pet. 5:1-4)
Devotion to:
- “The elder’s leadership” (1 Pet. 5:1-2)
- “The heart of the elders” (1 Pet. 5:3-4)
- “Each other” (1 Peter 5:5)
