2 Timothy 4:1-4

What is the state of preaching in our churches today?

I. IS OUR PREACHING ESSENTIAL? - 2 Timothy 4:1

• It's a "Command" - "I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ..."
• It's the "Criteria" - "... who will judge the living and the dead ..."
• It's "Coming" - "... at His appearing and His kingdom."

II. IS OUR PREACHING BIBLICAL? - 2 Timothy 4:2

• "Persistence" - "Be ready in season and out of season..."
• "Balance" - Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching." - Acts 9:22

III. IS OUR PREACHING STEADFAST? - 2 Timothy 4:3-4

• Itching ears - "to have one's ears tickled by what is heard; to hear what one wants to hear" - Acts 24:24-25
